A beautiful day for photography! It would be nice to update my excursion pics like: (done with iPhone 3G at the time)
It's been almost a year! I listened to lots of music in May 2011: Happy to listen again.
It *IS* an inviting night for photography...
Looking forward to twice cooked pork (actually very easy to make ) and more Mad Men. Life is almost perfect...
Fun can be exhausting...(photos some other time). Was thinking I might try this tonight but I think I will just rest.
Planning a lunch play date with a three-year-old and his mom is such fun because I am not limited to adult foods.
Success!! Now it's printing! Wait, I only have 4 sheets of paper in the tray and I need 6. *%*#&^*&^@ I know it's somewhere... but where?
Minor correction: My printer did work with my OLD MacBook. It doesn't seem to work with my newer MacBook. Now if only I could find the cable
A related thought: When was the last time I actually printed something out myself? I hardly use paper anymore.
Spending an unbelievable amount of time figuring out how to print out something. My PC is dead, and my printer doesn't work with my MacBook.
Oops - almost forgot. Claremont Book Club luncheon today. I was just thinking I should do more of these
Thoughts on being alone: People keep doubting if you are truly alone. I am. Feels fabulous. I wouldn't mind having just one to open up to...
Sweet time capsule April 2009 Update: Indeed, I did notice a number of fancy sake bars in South Korea. Sorry no pics...
This was a moment of relief. Doggies decided they had enough of the thoroughfare thrill and ventured onto a sidewalk
It was harrowing! NOW this makes me nervous. As you encounter such situations, you stay calm as adrenaline takes over..
Lost dogs! Found in Berkeley's Solano Avenue Tunnel, a poodle and a German Shepherd running around together in the traffic lane!
What's for dinner? You guessed it. Chicken! Tip: save most of the meat from the pot before it overcooks, keep simmering
Rewatching Mad Men. Almost done with season 1. My neighborhood still looks like that era
A beautiful Sunday. What's for brunch? Chicken! Not this, though: although that would be nice too. Go ahead and try it!
Lovely lyrics, Portuguese and English like being there Escrevi Teu Nome No Vento
*LOVE* simmering a whole chicken. I don't know how long it will take ME to consume it, but it smells really good. (Should do it more often!)
Truly, truly happy to be alone. Will be hanging "Do Not Disturb" sign outside my lone virtual office Cheers, Sharon
I can't believe I'm done with all the paperwork. I will miss these meetings. Just one more today... Efficiently done! <3 <3
Think of the primo school district the municipality of Claremont (Claremont Court as its center) &Elmwood could create! The rest will follow
Craving this but too lazy to go out. Wow thunder!
有 (exist) 無 (not exist) 月 (moon, month) サ ("sa" in Japanese katakana)... emoticon characters explained :) Why these? 秘!
満 (fill, full) 空 (space) 得 (obtain) 割 (partition) 指 (digit-finger, toe) 営 (manage) 申 (extend/monkey zodiac) 秘 (secret, mysterious) 祝 (bless)
Completely mystified. Didn't see a single homeless person today as I walked. Did they all move across the bridge? Berkeley has cleaned up!
Fact: Parts of Berkeley are among the richest in the Bay Area. Fact: Parts of Berkeley are among the poorest. Will try to locate a few today
LOVE the way Google map highlights city boundaries in pink. Claremont Court should be a tiny municipality like Piedmont (Oakland) or Monaco
Twitter's single tweet display is perfect for 2-photo-comparisons. Example 2: Bancroft and Telegraph facing Sather Gate
"..the formal brick and terra-cotta gates that mark each entry to the Claremont Court tract."
coming up - when I'm done with work (by late afternoon): the gates of Claremont Court
Literally 2 min-walk from my house ( I admit I seldom shop here, so I forget it exists sometimes) lovely Domingo Avenue
It will be a LONG day of locating and completing some final bits of paperwork due tomorrow. It will take all day ...
Found prime candidates for "then and now" shots! Will be a good outing today.
Can't believe I heard this song for the first time on the radio. Not feeling anything like this, but it's a cool song!
Hope I will have a clear view when I get up the hill. I always forget to bring my camera. Okay - leaving the house now.
About to hike up Claremont Canyon Regional Preserve - with my camera
Remember the typeset era? We've arrived at single-person-publishing. One can put out an entire travel magazine in a week. Instant delivery.
Cost of living in Lisbon cappuccino €1.18, inexpensive meal at a restaurant €7.44 imported beer (0.33 liter) €1.14
Approximated Portuguese trade routes and trading posts,1580-1640 (green) Rangoon, too (Yangon)
Really cool anachronous map of the Portuguese Empire 1415–1999. RED: possession PINK: sovereignty claim BLUE: influence
Wikipedia gives a nice summary of the military history of Portugal Wow!
Pão de Castela (Portuguese) = kasutera (Japanese) meaning sponge cake. Tenpura/tempura comes from Portuguese tempora (tempero, temperar) :)
Watching Y Tu Mamá También (... learning some Spanish can't hurt, either!) directed by
Kagemusha the film is indeed awe-inspiring! Director Akira Kurosawa was a genius. Now, why are most Japanese movies so bad these days??
Going for a short walk. Will be back with pictures.
Portuguese cram session. Expect Lisbon pics sometime this month/next month. (Not saying exactly when!) This was France
Forgot to take a picture of my eggs this morning. This post needed a good photo:
I'm not worried about marketing my book, either. If it comes to that, I'll pose semi-nude for the dust jacket.
Not many can reinterpret Edo poems into 5-7-5 English formats keeping the original meaning more faithfully than "literal translations"
I am itching to show you more haiku entries but I should keep them for publication. Sorry! Maybe a few now and then.
Josh Ritter is so good. Addictive songs: (Rumors) (The Curse) (Still Beating)
Been writing too long - I need some air! Going out to take some photos. Here's another "then and now"
What were they thinking: Remember $100 mil budget Portfolio? One of those magazines that came and went. (Dinner idea)
San Francisco: a little city with a thousand faces only a mile away from downtown.
